Ben Nowell, PhD, MSW, is Director, Patient-Centered Research, at the Global Healthy Living Foundation and CreakyJoints®. As Principal Investigator of the ArthritisPower™ registry, he co-leads the patient-powered research network with Shilpa Venkatachalam, PhD, and Jeffrey Curtis, MD, MS, MPH. His primary expertise is in patient-centered research, patient treatment satisfaction and shared-decision making, and the use of mobile apps and wearable devices for patient data collection.

Prior to joining GHLF, Ben worked as Bi-Lingual Medical Social Worker and Community and Long-Term Care Coordinator for the Ottawa Regional Stroke Centre at The Ottawa Hospital, and as Research Coordinator evaluating participant outcomes in Arthritis Foundation chronic disease self-management programs at Columbia University School of Social Work.
